Over the weekend of 13-14 April, the Italian Paracycling Championships took place in Montesilvano. Numerous competitors from all over Italy.
Two days of challenges under a decidedly summer sun in this small seaside town at the foot of the Gran Sasso massif. With the sea on one side and the snow on the other, all the scheduled categories got underway.
A busy weekend for the BARDIANI CSF TEAM EQUA which marks the absence of three locomotives in the respective categories: Luisa Pasini, Anamaria Vitelaru and Fabrizio Cornegliani.
Golds for sure: true, the race isn’t over until it’s over, however our three champions have demonstrated that they have no rivals on national soil.
Saturday opens with the road race in which our boys returning from the Due Giorni del Mare in Marina di Massa compete.
The women’s tandem did very well, with Claudia Cretti and Andrea Tarlao winning gold in the line.
Andrea Casadei, Martino Pini, Giovanni Achenza and Davide Plebani/Lorenzo Bernard achieved “only” a silver; bronze instead for the second men’s tandem of Fabio Colombo-Manuele Cadeo. Riccardo Cadei at the final bend before the finishing straight, fighting for the podium, hits a barrier with his front wheel and falls dangerously. He escaped with several bruises and a few sore ribs: nothing serious but enough to prevent him from starting in the time trial the following day.

In the gold time trial for Chiara Colombo-Elena Bissolati, Claudia Cretti and a generous Andrea Casadei who snatched a well-deserved gold with his teeth. Gold also for a great Martino Pini fresh from silver the day before. Also on the top step of the podium was Giovanni Achenza. Andrea Tarlao repeats the gold from the previous day. Silver and bronze for the men’s tandems. Riccardo Cadei, still in pain, prefers to save himself in view of the World Cup in Ostend in two weeks.
A great success for the whole Team and its coach, Ercole Spada.
The season continues for a next test on Italian soil: The World Cup in Maniago.
