Born in 1983 in Romania, Ana Maria became an Italian citizen and settled in Reggio Emilia in 2000. At the age of seventeen she suffered a serious train accident that caused the amputation of both legs, but despite this Ana did not stop cultivating her passion for fashion and became a seamstress at just 16, continuing to work in a prestigious company to this day.
His determination is also evident in his sporting activity: 14 years after the accident he returns to trekking in the mountains he loves, walking with his prostheses, and for over 10 years he plays wheelchair basketball, wearing the national team’s blue shirt Italian Female.
Ana Maria is endowed with a winning mentality and she also transmits this spirit to others who, like her, have to face difficulties in life. Thanks to Alex Zanardi’s “Obiettivo3” Project, Ana Maria has the opportunity to realize her dream of practicing cycling and in 2018 she joins Team Equa and becomes a FCI member, wearing the blue jersey of the Italian Para-cycling national team.
In her first competitions in 2018, she immediately won two gold medals at the European Cup in Marina di Massa and two bronze medals at the World Cup in Belgium. She continues to represent Italy and win medals in 2019, with four gold medals at the European Cup and two gold medals at the World Cup in Corridonia.
